Our second graders are rockin' and rollin' as we put our new skills to use in reading and writing. I put this display in the hallway to show off the great authors we have in our room! Our reading skills right now include understanding nonfiction text features, making predictions as we read, and using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. In writing we are writing fictional narratives that include the story elements and have an interesting plot. The students are doing a great job participating during lessons, staying focused on literacy stations, and writing with stamina. At home please continue to have your child read for 20 minutes nightly. It is important that your child is reading texts on his or her reading level (aka chapter books) in order to challenge themselves as readers. Thank you for all of your support this year as we work together to help our kiddos do their best!
